BIG-IP LTM VE - Reach the maximum throughput

Hello guys, I've a question. With BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager (LTM) Virtual Edition (with a License for 200 Mbps) what is the behavior when the maximum throughput of 200 Mbps is reached ? The end point that do the connection is refused or there is a throttling mechanism ?

Thanks Francesco

  • Hello,

When the maximum throughput is reached, new requests are queued as long as you are "full" throughput.

  • You should also receive a log message in \var\log\ltm. We have seen this in versions >11.4.0 for Hyper-V. Not sure about versions <11.4.0.

Also, the command "tmctl -d blade -i tmm/if_shaper" will show dropped packets during a large transfer if your license is exceeded.
