External IP address in LTM pool

We are looking to move videos we currently have hosted on our public web servers to the cloud. Due to client security constraints, we are looking for a way to have the videos accessible via that same public IP address we are currently using, even after they are moved to the cloud.

We have an LTM that is routing traffic to our internal servers where the videos are currently hosted. Is it possible to add external ip addresses to our existing LTM pools to point to the cloud for the videos? Do we need to upgrade to GTM?

Thanks! Mark

  • Hi Mark,

You don't need GTM to load balance to external hosts via IP address. Make sure you have a TMM route to the external IPs and then add them to an LTM pool.

  • Hi Mark,

I believe you have to discuss this with your Cloud Service provider the possibility of using the same Public IP address. Is this Public IP leased from some ISP or is it registered with IANA??
