Can vCMP exist with other modules on a physical cluster?

Hello all,

Is it possible to deploy vCMP on an existing Viprion without wiping out the existing configuration? From reading documentation my understanding is it is provisioned as a module via the resource manager.

Does this mean it can exist with other modules (ltm, apm etc.) that already exist on the physical box?

Thanks, CK

I'm guessing that if you managed to get it to configure, your module running at the host level would trump the resource needs across all the guests. Potentially having one module knock down guests and all other modules.

My recommendation, take the config of the modules you are running now and import them into a VCMP guest after you convert your F5.

    Hope this helps, Jason

  • Thanks Jason, that actually says: "if you have already provisioned any BIG-IP modules on the BIG-IP system before you provision the vCMP feature, those modules are de-provisioned when you provision the vCMP feature. This situation, in turn, interrupts any application traffic that the system is currently processing."

So can't deploy it in a production box.
