LTM Pool UP/DOWN - Urgent & Critical

Dear Fellows,

We have a serious problem, where pools are fluctuating UP/Down because pool members are fluctuating UP/Down. When all pool members are down, the pool will be down and also VS will be down. Users are complaining as they can't access systems. This happens randomly at different times and not related to working hours at all. I really appreciate your assistance in this matter.

  • The causes for this could be numerous. Have you performed a tcpdump on the LTM to determine what is happening? How often are the members going up and down?

Please post your pool and node configurations here if you would so we can diagnose the issue.

  • I am new to this box, What useful info I should collect from tcpdump?? How Can I show you the pool and node configurations as it is in GUI??

For frequency, each pool member in fluctuating 3 times up/down as average Thanks...

From the CLI (tmsh), perform 'list ltm pool poolname', where poolname is the name of your pool. Please also do this for your virtual server, 'tmsh list ltm virtual virtualservername', where virtualservername is the name of your virtual server. Let's look at your configuration before doing any captures.

Correction, for virtual server, do 'list ltm virtual virtualservername', where virtualservername is the name of your virtual server. The 'tmsh' portion isn't needed if you are already in tmsh.
  • Are you concerned that the health monitors are not properly detecting the health status of pool members? The Server Administrators show logs that the servers are actually healthy and taking requests when these events happen?
