Citrix iApp

I have a current production Citrix farm working fine. I just installed the F5 in the DMZ and trying to setup a test scenario for Citrix to pass through it. I've read through documentation but still need assistance. In Testing: I have external requests coming through the firewall to the F5 in the DMZ. On the F5 I used the Citrix XenApp Template that creates the Virtual Servers for the Web Interface and XML Broker. I did not choose SSL encryption and chose "no" when asked if the Citrix XenApp servers have a route back through the BIG-IP system (as recommended in the documentation). I created the two pools with the correct ip's and everything else.

On the WI server, in Citrix Web Management I created a new site also in IIS for the test.

In the F5 the pool for the Citrix_wi_Pool and Citrix_xmlb_Pool had the nodes down according to the Citrix_http_wi_base_monitor health monitor. After a lot of troubleshooting I removed the Citrix_http_wi_base_monitor and added http - now in the F5 all is green. (not saying that will be a permanent solution, but for now at least).

From externally when I go to the test url I reach only the Welcome IIS page. How come I cannot connect to the Citrix Xenapp page? Thanks.

Are you using the full url when going to your Citrix site? IE https://fqdn/Citrix/Web or https://fqdn/Citrix/xenapp.

Hmm, some of my answer was cutoff, my example of a storefront site should be: https://fqdn/Citrix/storenameWeb

  • Yes I'm using the full url. I'm able to see the IIS welcome page. How can I know from there if it is something on the Citrix Web Interface in IIS or the F5?

Are you able to directly connect a client to your web interface servers test website using http?

  • From internally only to the welcome IIS page. I have the xenapp website pointing to the ip of the xml broker server (which a vip is created for), and two farms listening on ports 80 and 8080. Set to direct secure access. If I browse the webserver from the IIS website its self I get the IIS welcome page also.

In Citrix Web Interface Management if I right click on the Xenapp website and choose preview site the Citrix Xenapp site comes up.

Try creating a new test site and test again using an internal client and, for the test, point the xml farm directly to an xml server. Also, verify you are using the same url being given when you select server preview from the management console.

  • Ok this is the latest.

When I go to http://app.domainname.com - I see the Welcome IIS page When I go to http://app.domainname.com/app/apptest - I see the page I want to see

All I did was add on /app/apptest to the end. Thanks.
