OSPF Route adverts ( active / passive )

I have a pair of Viprions that are setup active/passive -- both connected to their upstream via OSPF. I see the active member is actually advertising the routes -- but the passive member does not. Is this correct? Is there any way I can get the passive member to advertise with an ugly metric - rather than having to wait until a failover event?

  • I've never run OSPF on an F5 beforem but this sounds normal. Generally speaking in an active/standby pair of network devices, only the active device will establish an OSPF adjacency. The adjacency has to be re-established at failover unless both sides support NSF.
