Question on "action on svcdown" parameter

Hi everyone,

I have come across the above parameter on a new customer's configuration (BIG-IP 1600 10.2.x)

pool XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX { action on svcdown reset <<<<<<<<<<< monitor all members { member1:http {} member2:http {} } and wonder what is "reset" when the monitor marks the pool as down?. Documentation just says "You can specify no action with none, you can reset the system with reset....."

Could you please explain a little bit deeper?

Thanks in advance, moog

  • action on svcdown

Specifies the action to take if the service specified in the pool is marked down. Possible values are none, reset, drop, or reselect.

Thanks for the feedback, I came across this document: sol15095: Overview of the Action On Service Down feature http://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/15000/000/sol15095.html It was really what I was looking for. Hope it helps others as well. Regards moog
