wide-ip status based on LTM pool, not virtual server status??

Hi guys,

I have a situation where one LTM virtual server doesn't have a default pool assigned but just an iRule that selects a pool based on HTTP headers. Usually in a configuration like this the status of the virtual server will always be up.

If I want to run GTM, how would the wide-IPs know the status of the application? can the wide-ip status be based on the LTM pool instead? can I base the wide-ip status only on monitors and not the status of the LTM virtual sever? how would such a scenario be configured?

  • by default, you could use bigip monitor on GTM. Commonly, wideip status based on gtm pool which based on gtm servers. You could specify a customize monitor on gtm and do the health check for that server object.

  • Hi ipv6hermit, Did you find a solution for this? I also need to get the wide-ip based on the LTM pool instead of VS. If I assign an iRule to any LTM VS it will never go down.
