Migrate from 10.2.4 platform 3400 to 11.4.1 platform 4200

Hi

I want to migrate config and replace Box from 10.2.4 platform 3400 to 11.4.1 platform 4200

I must perform config migration on Box that can install both v.10 and v.11 , Am I right?

My Question is What platform that can perform migrate config from BIG-IP 3400 ?

How about 3900 , 3600 and 1600 ?

PS. I'm quite sure that 3900 and 3600 can do the job but how about 1600? Is 1600 have problem with lesser interface than 3400 ?

Thank you in advance

I can see your logic but...

You can actually restore a v10 UCS file on v11. So, you could build your new bigip, base config, license and provision your modules. Then restore the ucs on the new one in tmsh using the no-license and no-platform-check switches. The v10 config should automatically convert to v11.

If you get issues when installing the configuration then the following command can be useful:

    /usr/libexec/bigpipe daol

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi nathan

    Thank you for reply

Situation is customer want to replace a box with least downtime and Due to entitle service date agreement, I must activate a new box on the installation day. So I think about prepare ucs for v.11 before hand and when the time come , Just restore ucs and plug into network.

Did method restore ucs v.10 into box v.11 work perfectly fine? If it did, then I don't need to manually change anything else?

    Thank you

  • Does this command "/usr/libexec/bigpipe daol" work like a "tmsh load sys default-config" ?

I think "/usr/libexec/bigpipe daol" converts v10 config to v11 config.

  • I recently upgraded a pair of 1600's from 10.2.3 to 11.4.1 HF4 with no issues. I tested the upgrade process on a couple of VE's

Just a couple things to be mindful of:

    1. re-license your appliances before you begin the upgrade process
    2. When you upgrade, shut down your port-channel/interfaces to remove the possibility of both units going active/active (if you're using an active/standby configuration).
    3. pre-install the 11.4.1 image, but don't install the hotfix until you are ready to upgrade.

Why not pre-install hotfix too ? Is there issue we have to concern

    Thank you
