Turning off connection mirroring

Does anyone know how gracefully connections will close if you turn off connection mirroring on a VS? Is it subject to your connection reaping settings or is it instantaneous? I need to turn it off as its taxing my standby LTM but I don't want it to be destructive to people's existing sessions as there are about 1200 connections at any given moment. Might be a 3 AM type of thing. Thanks for any info.

  • It won't (or should I say shouldn't) be disruptive in any way but I'd still recommend an out of core hours change window.

  • Well, I have turned off the feature and nothing exploded (always a plus). Thank you for your input.

New problem unfortunately. The connections are still pinned on on one of my standby VIPs. I tried changing the monitor on the pool to force the pool down so it would drop the connections but that did not work, then I tried a delete sys connection command for the pool members and that did not work. The unit shows that it has 1000 connections on that VIP. Any thoughts?

try to delete sys connections on the vip-side in addition to the pool-side. If you look at local traffic statistics for pools, do you seen those active connections to the pool members or only on the virtual server side?
  • They only show up when I view the server side remote address and port in tmsh. In the gui they are showing in statistics under pool and server. There is no throughput being reported, just these connections. I don't see any persistence records either. Either way, I appreciate your help.
