SSL cert come with no private Key

Hi ,

I have received an SSL cert to assign to a webserver but with no private key file. All I have is one .crt file , one root.txt and one chain.txt file. So I am not sure how to import the private key into the F5.

Can I export the existing key in the F5 and use it for new assignment ? Or just copy and paste .csr file which they used to create .crt file as the private key

Much appreciate the help

  • The private key is used to generate the CSR. Who/what generated the CSR? The key will be there. For instance, if you clicked Renew in the F5 web interface to get your CSR, then yes, that is the private key you need.

And no, the CSR is not the private key, and cannot be used to obtain the private key.

  • Not sure why after importing the certification ,it was not be seen in the list of SSL client profile options ! Do I need to do anything else after importing the Certification. Or only can do renewal from there ?
