Migrate Exchange 2003 to 2010 with APM

Hi there,

Our company wishes to upgrad from Exchange2003 to Exchange2010. They prefer to have the F5 do the authentication for Exchange2010. For 2003 this is done with IIS in front. Setting up the F5 APM with the iapp version 1.3.0 went quite smooth to make the different parts of Exchange2010 available. We have 2 pairs of F5. 1 pair doing the APM part and the 2nd pair is handling the loadbalancing. For the migration part now trying to make the LTM's forward to the correct pool based on the article of Greg Coward. https://devcentral.f5.com/articles/migrating-from-exchange-2007-to-2010-with-access-policy-manager I end up at the point where the persistence irule should get the variable session.user.exchange. However, this is not succeeding. On the APM the variable is set correct. Is the LTM able to retrieve this variable? Or only when it is running on the same device? (ACCESS::session)

Thanks a lot,

Frank

  • The variables are only accessible from the same device. If you want, you can modify the iRules to insert the value of this session variable in the HTTP header on the APM device, have your LTM device read it, and select pool accordingly.
