Providing authenticated access to Remote Desktop without ActiveX

Hi there,

Deploying RDS according to the deployment guide https://www.f5.com/pdf/deployment-guides/f5-microsoft-remote-desktop-services-dg.pdf is working, however people react a bit allergic to the ActiveX plugins that need to be installed. My question: Is it possible to provide access to RDS after authentication on the APM without ActiveX and only 1 time providing credentials? Any experiences?

We are running 11.4.0 HF7

Thanks,

Frank

  • With version 11.6.0, APM can act as native RDP gateway, so no custom components needed other than native RDP client and pointing it to the APM Virtual Server as the RDP Gateway. Check out the documentation here: https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_apm/manuals/product/apm-application-access-11-6-0/5.html

Thanks Michael, Looks promising. To be honest, I am always a bit afraid for using the newest/hottest releases. Is this the only option? Not sure if I can pursuade to upgrade already.
