VS Offline (Disabled) is responding with RST

In our working 11.3 version we have pre-configured VS(s) for an eventual migration of an IP to be load balanced by the f5. These VS(s) and corresponding pools are all set to Offline (disabled). Devices currently behind the f5s can still access the physical device that has this IP address defined on it. Our f5 is in-line L3 routed mode so all traffic passes in and out of the f5s.

The issue is that we upgraded to 11.5.1 HF4 and the traffic to this device is now being RST by the f5. I have an open TAC case but not sure why this is happening. As soon as we rollback to 11.3 it starts working again.

My only thought was to disable access to these VS(s) on that vlan so that we can move forward with the upgrade. Does that seem like a viable work-around? Any other suggestions?

  • Thanks for the response. The f5 is the default gateway for the backend devices. They wouldn't arp specifically for that VS but rather send the request to their default gateway (the f5).

  • The issue was code related. There was a change in behavior between 11.3 and the 11.5.1 HF4 version. The solution was to re-ip the preconfigured virtual servers to some other temporary address.
