RDP window resize BIG-IP 11.6.0 Build 1.0.403 Hotfix HF1

I am using the VE of apm. I have looked to see if there is a way to resize RDP windows, and have seen some answers, but it seems unsatisfactory. Is it the case there really is no way to implement this?

I'm not using the app tunnel approach, but the regular rdp configuration.

  • under access policy->application access->remote desktops->remote desktops list, if you create one and set the type to RDP, you have the ability to set the window size and color depth, as well as the ability to map stuff, login automatically, and start specified applications.

Are you looking for a dynamic way of doing this in the VPE?

  • Yes, that is how I did it. However, in interested in allowing the end user the ability to manually resize report Windows. Eg: if it is set to full-screen, then the user resizes the window (other than fully minimizing), they cannot fully re-maximize the window. If I give them a % of a full window, the option to maximize is greyed out. They cannot go to full screen. Is there some additional way to accomplish this under VPE?

  • I will certainly have to look into this. And because it is the native rdp, then all of the "window resize" options are available. Nice. Much appreciated.

let me know if you get stuck. What version of TMOS are you on? This solution was early 11, I can revisit and update if necessary.
  • The maximise button has been disabled due to the "unexpected behavior" that it created, as documented under F5 Bug alias 421901 [RFE] 'Maximize' button of the browser window should restore full-screen RDP session (as in the native MS RDP client).

When it was enabled it had the habit of "maximising" the RDP session in the browser window and not actually the full screen resolution in Windows.

Microsoft have a shortcut of Ctrl + Alt + Break to maximse the RDP session
