  • Hi Sanjay

    1) When loading the UCS file are you using the "no platform-check" flag and "no-license"?

    2) Do you have ASM provisioned on the 4000 series box?

    3) You can try extracting the UCS file using 7-zip and take out the ASM portions of the config. (Once you edit a file, 7-zip will ask you if you would like to save and re-zip. When loading the UCS, make sure your ASM is un-provisioned.

    4) You can take a UCS from your 6500 called 6500-ASM-turned-on.ucs, disable ASM provisioning on your 6500, Take another UCS called 6500-APM-turnedoff.ucs and restore the 6500 to 6500-ASM-turned-on.ucs

    5) Contact F5 support if the above does not work or provide more details from the /var/log/liveinstall.log and /var/log/ltm

Thanks TJ Vreugdenhil, 1) Yes I tried this command while restoring... 2)Yes, ASM provisioned enabled on 4000 box. 3)I will try this but I need ASM backup also to restore. 4)I cannot modify anything on 6500 box becoz its live and very critical services running. Plz... guide if you have any other way to restore...6500 box config to 4000 box... Thanks.. Sanjay

  • I believe the only other option would be more of a manual process of copying the contents from, (bigip.conf, bipip_base.conf, etc) from the 6550 UCS file and use the following command on the 4000 box:

    load sys config merge from-terminal

You can start with small parts of the config when you get to the ASM sections. Hopefully you will be able to figure out what portion of the ASM config is causing the error. If it's not an extremely important item, you can remove it from the 6500 and take another UCS. Or at least you will know exactly what part is failing and you can go to F5 showing the exact config that is not carrying over and see if they have a workaround.

Are the sw versions compatible? BTW what model is the 6500 series box, as to my knowledge there hasn't been any 6500. The 6000 models have been 6400, 6800 and 6900
