SNMP differences between versions

Hi,

We have an automated script running in our environment that uses SNMP to gather information about various pools/nodes etc on an LB running version 11.5.1. This script started failing when I pointed it to another box running 10.2.4. The reason is that one of the indexes we depended on to figure out the LB hierarchy changes to include the IP instead of the LB name. My question is is there a better way to make a future proof script, or is there a link where I can read SNMP compatibility charts for bigip LBs?

  • I'd suggest your best bet is to do a check for the major software version each device is running and then perform different actions based on whether it is v10 or v11.

I doubt such a list exists, however, I think you can be fairly confident that things are pretty consistent with any single major software version.
