Using GTM as basic DNS server

Hi,

We have an F5 estate with LTMs and GTMs, where the GTMs are set up to answer DNS queries, with GSLB Servers, Pools and Wide IPs.

I have a requirement to add DNS entries into our GTM, where is resolves some new names to IP addresses that are outside of our F5 estate.

I realise that I am not making full use of the F5's capabilities, but this is just a small amount of our services that I need to set up this basic DNS solution on.

Please could someone who could point me in the right direction help me with this.

Thanks,

Richard.

  • If you have your listener listing on the self-ip address then you should be able to use zone runner to add the zone and records needed to answer for. Anything that doesn't have a Wide IP will then flow through to the local BIND server which is managed by zone runner.

  • Hi Seth,

Thanks for taking a look and giving me this advice.

I will give this a go when I am next on our F5s.

    Cheers,

    Richard.
