SAML Persistence with Office 365

Hello all,

I have recently setup SSO with Office 365, but have found that once I select Office 365 through the webportal, it successfully authenticates on the first attempt. However, if I close the tab for Office 365 and attempt to go back in through the same webportal, i receive the error:

Sorry, but we're having trouble signing you in

Please try again in a few minutes. If this doesn't work, you might want to contact your admin and report the following error: 800478A1.

This will persist until I close the whole browser session and then re-authenticate through the webportal. Is there a way to maintain persistence with the SAML auth for a set amount of time?

Thanks,

Mike

  • I think you are running into the usage/Office 365 limitation issue. It sounds like you are trying to perform IDP-initiated login to Office 365 more than once per authenticated session - and Office 365 is not liking it.

I recommend that you perform SP-initiated login instead - that should alleviate this issue.

  • Thanks Michael. I found that adding a link to office 365 or sending directly to the specific resource url (outlook, sharepoint, etc.) resolved the issue.
