How to mark down a node if another node in another VS is down?

Hi here,

I new on this forum, my enterprise want to configure something too complicated for me! Maybe someone has already do that :

I have 2 Virtual Server : A & B with pool with 2 servers each (node 1 & node 2 ) and (node 3 & node 4)

VS A x.x.x.x:* (its an all port VS, but in reality only 4 are used: 389, 636, 3268, 3269 Pool A (node 1 node 2)

VS B x.x.x.x:* (its an all port VS, but in reality only 2 are used: 50001 & 50002) Pool B (node 3 node 4)

node 3 is a linked application with node 1, and so on for node 4 and node 2. So we want to configure something to mark down node 3 if node 1 is down. And mark down node 4 if node 2 is down.

Do I have to use an Irule to do it? Or maybe the configuration with 2 VS isn't a good practice? I'm ready to change all my configuration if it's necessary!

I am on BIG-IP 10.2.2 Build 930.0 Hotfix HF3.

Thanks for your help!

best regards,

  • you can create node-specific monitors and assign them to your nodes. With option, Availability Requirements=All.

That is if you have monitor_node3 + monitor_node1 assigned to node3, that will make it.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your answer, I have just test it : I put on my node 3 two mmonitors : monitor_node1 & monitor_node3.

But the result is the monitor_node1 is down, cause if I put monitor_node1 on node 3 , the node 3 doesn't answer to it?

Do I have to specify in my monitor_node1 that the F5 doesn't have to request it on node 3? I don't find how to configure it, its a LDAP monitor.

    Regards,
