Transition of F5 Devices

Dear Experts,

 

Recently I got a new task where my organization is transitioning F5 devices (LTM,GTM) from some different Vendor.Can some guide me on the question/information that we need to took up during the transition Phase.

 

Any help is really appreciated.

  • Transitioning means my company got contract for management of F5 devices that are currently handeled by different company
  • ok and in which area are you looking for input now? contracts? technical? will your company just provide support or is it a managed service type of setup?
  • I am looking for the Input on Contracts/Technical both My company will be providing the support & management services.
  • nothing except common sense: make sure your company does the upcoming contract renewal make sure your company is registered to create cases with f5 support for them make sure all access for the previous company is disabled (i.e. change all password) make backups of config familiarize yourself with the config i would contact your local SE about this and ask them what else to do
  • As @boneyard says, it is generally prudent to contact your F5 Account team to discuss this transition. If you are unfamiliar with F5 products, F5 does offer extensive training, including a number of useful free training courses. You can find information here:

    Also, as @boneyard says, it is imperative that you transfer the contracts to your organization and ensure no gaps in support. Otherwise, you will be unable to open support cases for these devices and you will be unable to upgrade code. In order to effect the transfer, you will need to provide, at a minimum, the list of device serial numbers to your F5 Account team:
