Silverline DDoS limitations of GRE

Hi Im looking to protect a site with 2Gbps of inbound traffic. When engaging cloud Silverline DDoS is there a limitation of how much clean traffic can be delivered to me via GRE, as Ive noticed the pricing models only exist up to 1Gbps of clean traffic.

Silverline DDoS Protection would be able to return 2Gbps of clean traffic to you over GRE tunnels without issue. Typically customers have concerns at some level on their equipment as not all vendors and products handle high-volume GRE tunnel processing well.

If you have questions about the pricing structures of the service, please engage your local F5 account team or send a note to SilverlineSales@f5.com.

  • Hi Scott, thanks for the update 2Gbps support is great, please let me know if I can stretch this to 5Gbps to accommodate future growth.

Sure can, again, the limitation we find in conversations with customers is with the infrastructure on your side, routers tend to handle GRE better than firewalls, but most vendors advertise how many tunnels they can support, not the sustained bandwidth that's viable on the product over GRE. If you have that side covered, Silverline DDoS Protection can scrub your DDoS attack traffic and you'd be all set!

We'd be happy to dig into this in more detail via your account team or shoot us a note at SilverlineSales@f5.com.

    Thanks much!
