Test SNMP to a non configured server

Hi community,

is it possible to manually test snmp services from the BIG-IP platform to a non-confgured snmp receiver? we're on the process to migrate the NMS to a new ip address and we'd like to test this service towards the new ip addres before configuring it. The relase is 10.2.2

Thansk in advance BR

    Hi

You can perform a snmpwalk from the new server to your F5 box and test the results. Make sure there is no Access list or any firewall rule blocking this access. Either in the network on on F5. If you take care of this, I guess you should be good to test the new server without configuring it on the Big-IP platform.

    Regards, Vik

Hi Vik, thanks a lot for your reply. unfortunatly we can not do it that way becasue the Firewall just permit the traffic from the F5 towrdas the NMS and not from the NMS to the F5. thats' why i wonder if there's a way to test it from the F5. Regards, Gab

That is unfortunate. Then I guess you can just do it this way of testing by configuring on the F5. If a backed out change impacts the metrics, then you can raise a test change. Which is a success even if its backed out :D . I used to do it this way if I was not sure.
