Prasath, a http profile, like many other Profiles, inform the bigip on what the expected traffic is and can be used to interact with the traffic.

So, a http Virtual Server with a http profile will allow the bigip to read the http traffic and, for example, inject headers, cookies, create redirects etc.

    This article should help further.

    https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/products/big-ip_ltm/manuals/product/ltm-concepts-11-2-0/ltm_http_profiles.html

    Hope this helps,

  • Thanks Nathan, when i try to add Http profile on a https vip the traffic gets break and when i remove Http profile, it started to work properly. when i try to find answer for this the answer was to do not use HTTP profile. technically what is the actual reason Note:The VIP dont have SSL termination Thanks in advance for your reply
  • Hi Nathan, Does it mean that you are only going to use http profile if you want to manipulate http traffic? What if I don't want to control http traffic and I want to keep my SSL certificates on my local server, do I need to remove the http profile since I am not touching the http traffic?
