External Vlan of PR & DR are in Same Broadcast Domain

We are planning a Disaster Recovery Site for 13 BSS Applications. There is a lot of inter communication between applications on IP on PR site and we are not allowed to change anything in the PR site like we can't force them to use hostname instead of IP.

 

They are using F5 LTM on PR Site where Internal and External vlans are different. We are planning to keep internal vlans different but external vlan + IPs same on DR. If we extend external vlan to DR site and both LTMs external vlan is in the same broadcast domain. Will i get ip conflict if Virtual Server on DR LTM is in disabled state?

 

As Switchover between PR & DR is manual so i though i would just disable Virtual server IP on PR and Enable it on DR LTM.

  • i believe that should work, as long as the virtual IP address doesn't respond to ARP requests and doesn't send gratuitous ones you should be fine. so this isn't just the virtual server but also the virtual address, see:
