How can I be independent from dns propagation time when using BIG-IP DNS?

Hi there! I need to have just one IP returned when I have 2 data-centers to get rid of dns propagation time(like the thing "CloudFlare" says it provides), In the article "DNS Architecture in the 21st Century" there is this sentence: " Wide IP is a single IP address that directs people to multiple locations". It seems that wide ip do the task, but in action I don`t see the "one IP result", but I see 2 IPs which are my Virtual Servers in my 2 Data Centers, which I can load balance between. Please advise how can I be independent from dns propagation time when using GTM(BIG-IP DNS)?

"Wide IP" is a very misleading name. It is really a name, or a "wide" domain that is serviced by a set of virtual servers that provide content for the domain. There is a solution article that may help you: Overview of the Global Traffic Manager.

  • Hi,

In gtm, the default ttl of dns answers is 30 seconds.

If both vs are down in gtm, and fallback lb method is "return to dns", local bind service will answer with all ips even if the pool is defined to answer with one answer.
