BIGIP-13.0-VE HA - INITAL SETUP - ISSUES WITH HA-VLAN

Hi,

Apologies if this is a frequesnt question or somthing that has been asked before, I tried using search and google but nothing much turned up!

I am in the process of deplying 2 BIGIP-VE's on v13 that I want in a HA setup.

Note: Im a newbie to vmWare but I know enough to get-by (or so I hope) - Ive onyl deployed physical BIG-IP's before

Each VM is on a different host and I am having trouble pinging the HA vlan Self IP that needs to be L2 adjacent between VM's for the devices to function as HA.

I am sending the HA vlan via the 1.1 interface as untagged out of both VM's and have a self IP on this VLAN on each VM. - sounds simple enough, but I cant seem to get any reachability between VM's

I havnt terminated the HA VLAN on any L3 device as I am under the impression that this can act as an unrouted VLAN.

Below is the VMware config for the HA VLAN - mapping it to 1.1 , as network adapter 1 as mgmt by default

has anyone else had any issues?

  • Update - Both F5's can now ping each others HA-VLAN address but only if I move both VM's onto the same host.

the L2 transport is 100% configured between the hosts on the physical network so Im sure this isnt the issue.

Still no reachability over HA-VLAN if the bigip-ve's are on seperate hosts. However the mgmgt ports IP can ping the other sides management ports IP - the setup is pretty much the same - deicated mgmt vlan - however it seems there is L2 adjancency with this , but just not the HA VLAN ......
