Hi All..F5 lab setup using vsphere

Can anyone please help me regarding the networking part required for the lab setup using the vlabs files ? I am new on vsphere , need some guidance as to how to achieve 3 subnets ? I have currently one subnet ie my private network i am in and on which the vcenter is built. So i read through the document for vlabs, 2 host only for internal and management is required right ? so i have to create 2 new subnets and for external , i can take ip from the current subnet which will have access externally as well.Hopefully am correct ? ..I need the setup for understanding F5 ASM ...i am not sure of host only networks ,

Currently on vsphere , i have a vswitch and one vmnic

Can you tell me what i have to do more on networking side?! I created below host 2 , is this how it should be ?

Hopefully some one could guide me?

  • Hi,

Not sure if this is answer to your question, but...

    • Using vSphere client (in the place that you showed in your image) click on Properties link, then
    • Add... button
    • Connection type: Virtual Machines, Next
    • Name your network for example Internal, set VLAN ID to some number other than one used by your existing external VLAN - that will create separation between those VLANs, only path will be via BIG-IP
    • Finish

Now you have to set this network on your VE VM, hopefully you have VM with at least 3 vNIC. If not you have to add third (that sometimes can mess your network config in BIG-IP - but can be resolved - see Adding TMM interfaces to the BIG-IP Virtual Edition running on VMware ESXi)

When you will have three vNIC just attach created Network to free one.

It's good to write down MAC of all interfaces because mapping on VE is not always as expected.
