F5 to F5 load balancing

We need to deploy a solution where pool members of the VIP in F5 need to be the VIP of another two F5 outside the network. We have route to another two F5 which is outside the network.

 

F5-A VIP-A (location A, offloading) Pool members of VIP-A

 

1. VIP-B of F5-B (location B) 2. VIP-C of F5-C (location C)

 

F5-A needs to load balance between F5-B and F5-C, the question is how F5-A can monitor the status (up or down) of a VIP of another F5 ? If VIP-B goes down due to pool members are down, how F5-A will know that?

 

Also is solution better fit in GTM rather than LTM ?

    Why not consolidate the pools under 1 F5 ? VIP (F5-A) >>> POOL (F5-B)

     

    I am not seeing the reason for such a setup. Can you please, provide more information for the reason behind such a set up and what you are trying to achieve ?

    Hi,

     

    Why not use standard monitors on F5-A? If F5-B VS will have no active members it will not answer http request (if we are talking about LB for HTTP) send from F5-A.

     

    Did you experienced any problems with that?

     

    If so I guess you can use iControl REST and External monitor on F5-A to ask another F5 about Pool status.
