creating Floating IP in traffic group, config on both LTMs or just primary

Hello Community,

I am trying to create an active-active pair of LTMs using traffic groups. I have created a self IP on both LTMS devices and a traffic group. I have created the floating IP on one of the LTMs and assign it to the traffic group. Do I need to create the same floating IP on the other LTM manually, or do I just create the floating on the single box and sync the config over? The problem I am facing is that when I try to create a route on one of the F5s, the config goes out of sync. Someone suggested that I should create the same floating IP on both boxes.

I can get the exact error message once I'm in my lab tomorrow.... I just woke up in the middle of the night thinking about it...

Could anyone recommend a detailed guide/manual for configuring traffic groups in an active-active pair?

Thanks in advance..

  • Just so that I can understand a little more clearly, are you configuring both the Floating IP and the new Route at the same time before syncing?

If so, try syncing just the floating IP configuration first, validate it's on the standby, then sync the routing change.

Thanks for replying, I have sussed it out... the self IP address of the non-floating interface, was deleted by my colleague... dont know why. But since I added the self-ip address the floating-group started working. Can you recommend a manual for LTM? I currently just google solutions, but I've not found an overall manual yet.
