HSL & Syslog concurrently

Simple question, I hope the answer is simple too - Can you have HSL and Syslog configured at the same time? We are moving from Syslog (via mgmt IF) to HSL (via TMM if) the destinations are the same but the approach will mean that the HSL config will be done in one maintenance window, with the connectivity being provided later, I do not want to cut off syslog in the meantime.

I think as these are separate processes independant of one another, it should be fine. But wanted to clarify.

Many thanks,

James

  • Hi James,

Standard Syslog and HSL are seprate processes - they're actually handled by different Operating Systems, Syslog being handled by the Linux management kernel, HSL being handled by TMM. Syslog will route packets out of the management interface, whereas HSL will route out of TMM (self-IPs). So yes, you'll be able to run them concurrently

    Hope that helps
