HA active standalone configuration on VE 13. 1

In my Lab I have configured F5-1 VE and tested my LTM module; I have assigned only management IP on the second F5-2 box. So far. All are put in the DMZ. All nodes behind the firewall

  • Do I need to fully configure F5-2 and its interfaces vlan and all default routes, SSL certs , Irules and all …. All before I begin HA setup. ? Or the configuration sync will make a mirror copy of the F5-1 VE. ?

  • Do I need to back up single file configuration on F5-1 and restore on F5-2? Or Get both F5 1 and 2 working independently and then configure the Sync.

  • What is the best and easy process to implement Active Standalone configuration? Any pointer are appreciated.

No, you need a basic setup with mainly network (interfaces, vlans, self IPs), HA communication config and then built the trust relation and do a config sync.

wouldn't bother with that. you mainly have configure the networking part and that often not that much work.
