Duplicate IP on interface MGT

Hi all! I got this problem. Sometime I can not ssh of login web ui via interface mgt on F5. I tried to change IP on interface mgt to other IP a then I can ssh normally. But the old IP is still remain. I also can ping the old IP and after checked I found that the interface mgt have two IP with two mac. I have check the config but can not see where the old IP is configed. So please help me to solve this situation. We want to use old ip for management.

Old IP: 10.220.69.61 MAC f4-15-63-f6-63-00 New IP: 10.220.69.61 MAC f4-15-63-f6-63-02

  • About the 2 MGMT IP's:

besides the dedicated MGMT interface, you may be using a Self-IP for management.

in your example, the old and "new" IP's are the same: 10.220.69.61. is that right?

    =======================================

    About the MGMT stopping working:

try running "tmsh save sys config" after changing the IP's.

See what the MGMT config looks like under bigip_base.conf.

  • Old IP: 10.220.69.61 MAC f4-15-63-f6-63-00 New IP: 10.220.69.70 MAC f4-15-63-f6-63-02

when old ip 61: sometime can not ssh change to 70: always ssh to device via ip 70. Still can ping ip 61.

I was typed wrong. But how can I check why two IP can remained on interface mgt and how to delete it. I have check the bigip_base.conf but I see nothing helpful.

  • I see these config: cm device xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx { active-modules { "Access Policy Manager, Base, i56XX|SLKSVRR-DTAHPWN|Anti-Virus Checks|Base Endpoint Security Checks|Firewall Checks|Network Access|Secure Virtual Keyboard|APM, Web Application|Machine Certificate Checks|Protected Workspace|Remote Desktop|App Tunnel" "Best Bundle, i5600|FTQBDVF-VGTSVWL|Rate Shaping|DNSSEC|DNS Services|SDN Services|BIG-IP, DNS (Max)|Routing Bundle|Application Security Manager, i5XXX|Advanced Firewall Manager, i5XXX|GTM Licensed Objects, Unlimited|DNS Rate Fallback, Unlimited|DNS Licensed Objects, Unlimited|GTM Rate Fallback, (UNLIMITED)|DNS Rate Limit, Unlimited QPS|GTM Rate, Unlimited|CGN, BIG-IP, AFM ONLY|Max SSL, i5600|Protocol Security Manager|Max Compression, i5600" } base-mac f4:15:63:f6:63:00 build 0.0.1645 cert dtdi.crt chassis-id "xxxxxxxxxx " configsync-ip 192.168.101.1 edition Final failover-state active hostname HNDC-SF-F5BI7000S-01.VINECOM.VN key dtdi.key management-ip 10.220.69.61 marketing-name "BIG-IP i5600" mirror-ip 192.168.100.1 multicast-interface eth0

So what is it and how to change it on web UI ?

  • hold on...how are you changing the MGMT IP? are you working directly on the bigip config files? If you're not fully familiar with F5 config, you shouldn't be doing that.

To change the MGMT IP from the F5 webGUI, go to System >> Platform

I changed it via System >> Platform. After change --> No ip 61 on bigip_base.conf. But Still can ping 69.61. I want to know where is it on my BigIP F5. And how to delete it.

are you sure is not a self-ip?

If you cannot find the IP in either bigip.conf nor bigip_base.conf, there may be another device using that IP in your network.

I can confirm the ip 61 is from BIGIP. When I disconnect the link. Both IP 61 and IP 70 can not be reached. And two mac address: Old IP: 10.220.69.61 MAC f4-15-63-f6-63-00 New IP: 10.220.69.61 MAC f4-15-63-f6-63-02

They are just difference a little bit.
