SNMP v3 not working

Hi,

I've configured SNMPv3 on my F5 LTM VE with authPriv.

but when i try to do a snmpget to test the configuration, its giving error as Timeout (Sub-id not found: (top) -> sysSystemUptime.0)

"snmpget -v 3 -u snmpadmin1 -a SHA -A "xxxxxx" -x AES -X "xxxxxx" -l authPriv localhost sysSystemUptime.0"

let me know what is wrong with the configuration.

    I am also facing the same issue when running "snmpget -v 3 -u "xxxxxxx" -a MD5 -A "xxxxxxxx" -x DES -X "xxxxxxxxxxx" -l authPriv localhost sysSystemUptime.0

getting the below error "snmpget: Unknown user name (Sub-id not found: (top) -> sysSystemUptime)"

if any one solve this issue please suggest

  • Hello madan,

Have you autorise localhost adresse (127.x) in Client Allow List ? (System > SNMP > Agent > Configuration > Client Allow List) and verify your Use rname agent.

    HI Lidev

Thanks for your response yes in client allowed list localhost (127.0.0.0/8) has already been allowed.

  • Ok.

Did you check your User name (System > SNMP > Agent : Access (V3) ? your error message seems to indicate that it's unknown to the system.

    Hi Lidev

I checked the user is correctly configured one thing i noticed that we have active -standy and snmpv3 is not working only in standby node in active node its working fine.

  • If the issue appear only on your standby member, restart the snmpd daemon on this unit.

    tmsh restart sys service snmpd

if that doesn't help, try to delete and recreate the User name, update the config and relaunch a test.
