OSPF peering to a floating self IP

We have an active/standby setup on Viprion F5s and these connect to some Cisco routers. We have OSPF running between the F5s and Cisco using the non floating self IPs for the connected VLAN. Can we change the OSPF peering to use the floating IP configured on the VLAN?

 

At present the Cisco routers are constantly issuing error logs to say -

 

Oct 18 07:12:12: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr 192.168.250.4 on Vlan870 from EXSTART to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Too many retransmissions Oct 18 07:13:12: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr 192.168.250.4 on Vlan870 from DOWN to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Ignore timer expired Oct 18 07:15:23: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr 192.168.250.4 on Vlan870 from EXSTART to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Too many retransmissions Oct 18 07:16:23: %OSPF-5-ADJCHG: Process 1, Nbr 192.168.250.4 on Vlan870 from DOWN to DOWN, Neighbor Down: Ignore timer expired

 

IP 192.168.250.4 is the standby Viprion. Will using the floating IP of .5 fix this issue?

    No, you should peer to the non-floating self-IP and maintain a session to each device. Failover of VSs is done by the route being redistributed on the active device. Fix the issue with OSPF - MTU? Dodgy cable? etc
