Automatic GTM failover?

  1. We have 3 Data Center (US, UK, Australia)
  2. We have 3 GTMs each in above data centers and in a single sync-group
  3. Now the plan is to build a DR-site only to US-Data Center. So we got a new GTM in the DR-site.
  4. How is it possible to do an automatic failover of GTM in US-Datacenter is turned off to new GTM in DR-site? 5.If this failover possible. Is it necessary to add the new DR-GTM to the current existing GTM-Sync group (3 GTMs currently)?

Note: DR-site is a cold Data Center

    Hi,

You can add your new GTM into existing GTM sync group. Unfortunately there is no such option for GTM as failover. GTM is a DNS server and DNS server always active. It can be master or slave but always active.

You need to configure your DNS clients with more then one DNS server. If the primary in unavailable, the client will choose the next from the list.

You can disable DNS listener on the GTM, so it can stop responding to queries and to help dns clients switch faster.
