Recomendations to upgrade from 10.2.1 to 12.1.2

Hi guys, I have to perform an upgrade from 10.2.1 to 12.1.2 I already checked these links and also iHealth:

bigpipe verify load

Any suggestion please, In version 10.x you can't specify what config is used when rebooting into the new boot location, so it will use the active configuration from the boot location that you were using at that moment right?

if you are using GTM, be sure you do intermediate update to 11.x 1st.

  • Hi,

    did you check this article:

    https://devcentral.f5.com/articles/big-ip-upgrades-part-1-preparation-27269

Here a great procedure for upgrading from 10.x to 11.x:

    https://www.thegeekstuff.com/2012/04/upgrade-big-ip-f5-ltm/

Additional point, if you want to specify which version must be running after reboot enter the following command:

    switchboot -l
will show you (Current boot image / Default boot image / Available boot image)

    and

    switchboot
alone will allow you to select default boot.

keep me in touch if you need more details.

    regards

  • Hi Sergio000,

An automatic config mirgration from 10.2.1 to 12.1.2 is a huge step because F5 has changed a lot of stuff since then. Personally I would prefer to rebuild the setup from scratch using partial tmsh export/imports. The result is much cleaner...

    Just my 2 cents... ;-)
