F5 Dashboard displays 99.99% CPU Utilization

Hi experts,

We are currently having problems here. Our F5 (both active and standby) displays in the dashboard that it is currently having 99% CPU Utilization.

Are there any related article referencing this one, may it be a bug or known issue. In the logs, we dont see anything saying that it reached 99 CPU Utilization and still process the traffic normally.

Also, in normal operation, what are the consequences when the box reached its highest peak? will it shutdown or reboot? will it not process new connection traffic?

Thank you

  • Hi,

Please verify CPUS status using top command in CLI and also let us know what hardware and version you are using in your environment.

  • Hello

if you reach 99% cpu, I advise you to generate qkview and uploaded it in https://ihealth.f5.com/ in order to check if you have a bug identified by the editor. Additional can you check if you have a core file generated (check in /var/core/ if there is a file and check date of generation)

You have ASM Module? See: https://support.f5.com/kb/en-us/solutions/public/16000/400/sol16469

Can you give me your version please and if it is VE or Hardware.

Last point can you check CPU / active connection /troughput Graph, Maybe you will find a strange behaviour...

    regards,

  • There is a cosmetic issue if you see CPU utilization is more only in GUI and not in CLI. In your case you are seeing both GUI and CLI 100%, I suggest you open a vendor ticket to get it resolved.

  • Hi All,

after rebooting the box, it seems that the cpu utilization went normal. We will monitor if this will happen again. I believe it was a cosmetic issue and was resolved after restarting the services.

    Thank you everyone for answering.
