Update Check and Geolocation

Hi,

I am running 11.6.0.4.0.420 VE. Performed Update Check. Everything except Geo Location Software Version was reported as up-to-date.

So I downloaded update (using link provided), installed it according to instructions, tested - everything looks OK. However when I run Update Check again it's still reporting Geo Location as not up-to-date:

Last Checked Version1.0.1-20140703.99.0 Latest Update CheckThu Mar 26 11:50:10 CET 2015 (Manual) Available Updateip-geolocation-1.0.1-20150305.125.0

Sure ip-geolocation-1.0.1-20150305.125.0 was the file I downloaded and installed.

When doing geoip_lookup -f /shared/GeoIP/F5GeoIPOrg.dat 65.61.115.197, I am getting:

version = GEO-148 20150305 Build 1

When running list /sys software update-status, result is like that:

So from where check is getting this last-checked-version 1.0.1-20140703.99.0?

In /shared/GeoIP folder all files has modification date 2015-03-05 so in pair with specified in one contained in update file ip-geolocation-1.0.1-20150305.125.0.

I am not sure if it's some problem with my deployment or it's a bug?

    Hi Piotr, I would recommend to open a case on this. Personally I have generally turned off the auto update procedure, as it doesn´t work anyway in most client environments, caused high CPU load in case it was not able to talk home and used to turn on automatically for whatever reason (fixed now according to release notes).     I encounter same issue.

     

    In System/Software Management/Update Check. Last Checked Version won't updated to ip-geolocation-1.0.1-20150403.132.0 even though I already update manually using ip-geolocation-1.0.1-20150403.132.0

     

    Geo Location Software Version Last Checked Version1.0.1-20140703.99.0 Latest Update CheckTue Apr 28 20:06:27 WIB 2015 (Manual) Available Updateip-geolocation-1.0.1-20150403.132.0

    Hi,

     

    Anyone was able to resolve this issue (or got answer from support)? I am just configuring 7200v with 11.6.0HF4 and after performing manual geolocation update (as in README) my Update Check is still reporting that geolocation is not up to date and pointing to the archive download with the same version as I already updated.

     

    Again geoip_lookup -f /shared/GeoIP/F5GeoIPOrg.dat 65.61.115.197 is returning:

     

    version = GEO-148 20150427 Build 1

     

    what is in pair with version that is reported by Update Check as newest and not installed:

     

    ip-geolocation-1.0.1-20150427.141.0

     

    Only strange think here is why in CLI there is GEO-148 but archive is .141.0 - I assume that those numbers should much? Anyway number reported in CLI is higher than on Update Check page or in name of latest archive.

    Got the same issue with LTM VE BIG-IP 11.6.0.5.0.429 and ip-geolocation-1.0.1-20150806.146.0 package.

    I am having the same issue on 11.6.1.1.0.326 Last Checked Version1.0.1-20150903.147.0 Latest Update CheckFri Dec 02 10:20:51 EST 2016 (Manual) Available Updateip-geolocation-1.0.1-20161103.234.0

     

    When I use command line to check version:

     

    Will attempt to lookup ip '65.61.115.197' opening database in /shared/GeoIP/F5GeoIPOrg.dat size of geoip database = 221537192, segments = 11300825, version = GEO-148 20161103 Build 1 Copyright (c) F5 Networks Inc All Rights Reserved geoip_seek = 00cec053 geoip record ip = 65.61.115.197 name = f5 networks
