Not able to reach the VIP

Hi Everyone, I have two 1600 series F5 LTM's which are on HA . We are not able to ping or reach any interface of the LBA1a from outside and also when logged in to the device via console and tried to ping other IP addresses of the LBA1b we are nto able to do so . Please advise on this . Following are the logs which we are getting on the LBA1a1.

Jun 15 13:21:37 lba1a1-site3 notice mcpd[4715]: 01071431:5: Attempting to connect to CMI peer 172.17.102.135 port 6699 Jun 15 13:21:40 lba1a1-site3 err mcpd[4715]: 0107142f:3: Can't connect to CMI peer 172.17.102.135, port:6699, Transport endpoint is not connected Jun 15 13:21:42 lba1a1-site3 notice mcpd[4715]: 01071431:5: Attempting to connect to CMI peer 172.17.102.135 port 6699 Jun 15 13:21:43 lba1a1-site3 err mcpd[4715]: 0107142f:3: Can't connect to CMI peer 172.17.102.135, port:6699, Transport endpoint is not connected

Please suggest/advise how to fix the issue of non reachability of this LBA to other peer and others in the network .

Thanks .

  • Hi,

I would check the basic network setting.

    • Interfaces of the F5 appliances connected to the same switch network?
    • If in different locations, is the VLAN available in both locations?
    • Interfaces of the F5 appliance in the same VLAN?
    • Tagged / untagged settings of the interfaces on the F5 appliances?
    • Subnet masker mismatch?

You can use tcpdump on LBA1b to see if packets from LBA1a reach this appliance. If not, your issue is network related.

    Regards, Martijn.
