RST / Drop on virtual server down

Hi guys,

i think i know the answer already, but is there any want to refuse a tcp connection in the first place if all pool members are down? Not sure this really going to be connected to iRules, but i've been looking at things like the LB_FAILED signal, which could at least let me send a polite message and close back to the client, but our fears are that this client app *might* only fail across to a different site if there is no TCP connection established in the first place. really hope that's not the case, but if it is, are we stuffed with the LTM's?

Cheers

Chris

  • heh, what do you know... searched and searched and found nothing, then this is already on the front page... http://devcentral.f5.com/Default.aspx?tabid=53&forumid=5&postid=15367&view=topic

as you were... nothing to see here (unless you think otherwise...)

my own answer seems to be that you should use a fastL4 profile instead of a standard one, and that at least silently drops the packets without completing the handshake.
