Bigip HA

Hi,

I just want to migrate config from one load balancer to Bigip LTM. customer has provided one set of IP which will be self ip in bigip for three different vlan. but for HA do we need two set of selfip addresses from each vlan and that customer provided ip will be the floating ip address right?

  • If you have other devices that have routes pointing to the customer provided IP, it would be a good idea to configure that one as floating IP, so it will failover in case of an outage. And yes, you will need one non-floating self IP per device and per VLAN in order to get the floating IP working.

  • in case of HA it depends, for health monitors the node selfIP is used as a source IP.

all other traffic (i.e. SNAT AutoMap) uses the floating selfIP.
