How LTM reports disable state to GTM

Hi,

 

We have found when we disable ( allowing current/active connections) all LTM pool members or the VS to all us to do maintenance, the GTM pool member go Offline (Enabled) - No nodes up.

 

As a result of this the GTM stop using the persistent connection records it has and replies with the other sites IP. This is not optimal as it stop customer from finish their shopping.

 

The only way I can see to do it is:

 

Untick Verify Virtual Server Availability on the GTM Pool Disable the GTM Pool to Drain Persistent Requests. Disable the LTM pool members, using a http profile with a fallback host ( other side )configured for new connection.

 

Is there a better way?

    I'm not convinced there's a 'good' way to drain connections to a GTM balanced site. The disconnect beween client and server (i.e. the http connections come from client, but the DNS requests come via the clients LDNS) mean there's no real way to tie the two together.

     

    So stopping NEW entries coming into persistence cache is easy. But for EXISTING ones,m it'll prove to be difficult, ESPECIALLY if you have a lot of clients from the same LDNS servers (i.e. Get enough clients on the same LDNS and you won't ever flush the persistence entry, so you'll never get rid of the clients hitting that site).
