Initial setup of 6400 for People Soft

Hey!

We just started to use a Big-IP 9.x 6400 and are trying to get 4 People Soft web servers setup behind it. They are running WebLogic.

At first just configured it with a static test page and round robin. Everything worked just fine. Then actually turned on the real content, using SSL...

That's when all the problems started. Login page came up, but after authentication, the client got broken page back with links to http instead of https...!?

Finally found a documentation on the PS site that said to turn on some kind of a virtualization to make it know it is behind the Big-IP...

That in it's turn seems to cause internal problems with the servers now not talking http internally between each other, and that causes certificate problems...

Anyone out there with a Big-IP/People Soft environment who could share some info?!

TIA!!

  • Not sure exactly what you are asking. We are using a very similar setup. We are not using ssl from the F5 to the webservers. The setup works like a champ. I'm not a peoplesoft admin, but explain a little more and we might be able to figure something out.

  • Do you have the BIG-IP inserting an HTTP header WL-Proxy-SSL=true or WLProxySSL as seen here (Click here) so that weblogic server knows that there is SSL being done on the front end?
  • on our 8.3 system on the web profile page in the virtual addressing tab, we enabled the generate relative URL's option and specified the protocol, name, and port of our F5 virtual server.
