Memory Utilization Monitoring on BIGIP using Oracle Enterprise Manager Plugin

We're using the Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control to monitor our BIG-IP running 9.4.4.65.1. On the performance monitoring page displays these values.

Memory Used (MB) : 3708

Memory Available : 0

Memory Utilization (%): 388811980800

The BIGIP GUI displays these confilicting values.

HOST TOTAL 389,750,784

HOST USED 369,139,712

TMM TOTAL 3,888,119,808

TMM USED 24,262,004

Apparently, the OEMGC doesn't know to ignore the host values and only query the TMM ones (?) or perhaps BIGIP is responding to the proper iControl requests with the wrong numbers.

Has anyone experienced this issue?

It appears that there's an error in the math of the OEMGC.

I'm not familiar with the Grid Control, but looking at the TMM Total and the Memory Utilization, they're the same number - which implies to me that the actual percent equation - TMM Used/TMM total is not being performed, and just TMM Total is getting printed instead.

Just a thought. I'd have to plow through the calls and see to be positive, but that certainly looks like what's happening.

  • Thanks for teh quick reply Don. I'll get you the jar file that OEM uses. We opened a case with Oracle and their answer was that their control was created using the 9.1.x version of the iControl SDK and that F5 "changed something" so it was an "F5 issue". btw the LTM's being monitored are 9.4.3. Since having them update the control may be an uphill challenge, my best bet will be to correct the code within their control, if possible.
