need to forward traffic to mulitple external destination addresses

I have been asked to set up the f5 to proxy requests from one vip out to multiple addresses. While researching I found an option to create a shared object address list but unforuntaly we are not at maintenance 14.1 and above. Is there any way to use this address list on 14.0.0.4? I can't seem to find doc telling me how to make this work. Perhaps an irule?

Thanks in advance.

  • As i know, there is no option to forward traffic to multiple VIP but if you have some contents criteria then irule can help.

Can you please put some example

  • Thank you for the feedback, Rodrigo.   I thought about that but I'm not understanding what load balancing algorithm to put on the pool.  I don't want to load balance, I want to forward the traffic to all of the destinations rather than choose one destination based on the lb choices (round robin, etc.).

This is actually a software product we purchased which provides Active Directory statistics to monitoring sites.  So it's like a publish or feed type of traffic.  We need to front end our AD sites with the f5 to minimize the complexity of the firewall and network configuration for all our customers.

I looked at choosing the forward profile on the vip but then I don't see a place for a pool of addresses.   I guess I'm still pretty new to f5 configuration.

You can create a wildcard forwarding virtual server by using BIG-IP LTM as a multicast router. You can also try to implement synchronisation on server side. For example, let BIG-IP load balance traffic normally and another protocol (e.g. etcd) can make sure your data is synchronised on the 3 boxes. I'm not sure how to do that on Windows but if you detach your storage from the servers and run them on Linux you can definitely implement a distributed storage.
