LTM backup

Hello All,

We have 2 BIG-IP 2000 series running on V 13.0.0 HF3 and on HA (Pure LTM installation) Lately we have got i2600, now would like to replace one of the HA pair with i2600, ( As primary device)

Tried to restore UCS from 2200 to i2600 which failed (Device not booting successfully, had to boot to another partition and recover)

Need advice on how to restore the complete LTM config along with partitions (Commom and LTM) on 2200 to i2600.

Please help.

  • When you say "Device not booting successfully, had to boot to another partition and recover"

Did you check if your installation was halt for some reason & the error logs.

  • Was not able to check the logs as the device was not accessible.

kindly let me know if we can backup and restore Complete LTM config.

  • Yes it can be done, as long as its done the right way.

Please tell the method you had tried. You are doing platform migration.

    1. Whats the base version that's present on the volumes (on i2600),

    tmsh show sys software

    1. Did you save the UCS properly on 2200 & scp'd it to the i2600.
    2. How was the installation done on i2600,

    tmsh load /sys ucs no-license

Or you can take the route of SCF restore.

    Refer this Article.

    • Save the config.

tmsh save sys config file /var/tmp/$HOSTNAME

    • SCP the 2 files (scf and tar file) from 2200 /var/tmp/ to the i2600 tmp directory.

    • Load all configuration on i2600

tmsh load /sys config file tar-file
