GTM-Migration

Hi, i want to migrate a GTM to a new platform . Scenario - GTM running on 1900 -- a new F5 (LTM - 4000 Series) i want to provision DNS(gtm) on the 4000 platform and ultimatly switch off the old platform there are 2 ways i can achieve it 1 - do a load scf gtm only on the 4000 platform . as this does not include listners - i will manually add - self IPs and create listners

2 - Add the new DNS to the GTM sync group - but that means adding a new self-ip and adding that device to the Datacenter

Question - which would be a better option -- keeping in mind that i would be shutting down the current GTM at some point

and if i am doing translation on the selfip of GTM - can i translate the same to the new devices self ip Thanks

  • Personally if you're able to do so I would set up the new GTM separately and add it to the sync group, this give you more flexibility to fall back if necessary and avoids IP conflicts. You can then update your NS records with your DNS provider with the new GTM listener address when you're ready to decom the old GTM. When you're confident DNS queries are not being served by the old GTM you can shut down the listener and remove the device from the sync group.
