Viprion files on blades.

Hello,

I have a Viprion with 2 blades. When I am deleting ISO files on /shared/images they are coming back after a while. I am sure they arent used in any guest. I did the delete in CLI with a rm command.

I saw this in the LTM logs on the VCMP host after the delete command.

  • I have the same issue. I've tried to delete these old .md5 files prior to software upgrade, yet it did not properly delete. After the upgrade reboot, I've checked again, and the issue persists. Any workaround that can be used for this? Many thanks!

    • Hi All,

I would highly recommend using the WINSCP software (one of my all-time favorite to transfer or administer files inside or to outside between windows and f5 Linux based file system , cut copy paste or delete files like we do in  WINDOWS GUI )if you can download it for free and allowed to install it from where you can connect your F5 boxes suing MGMT IP, once connected to the F5 boxes using scp/sftp and in advance setting modify shell setting the default shell to bash or as per f5 articles in case you face connection error on these 2 protocols.

Remotely Access F5 Device Files Using WinSCP in GUI

      Recommended Actions

      • If the user accounts are local BIG-IP accounts authenticated locally (not via Remote Authentication), modify the Terminal Access to Advanced shell

Note: The Default admin account has only TMSH permissions by default

      • If the user accounts are remote user accounts authenticated via remote authentication (Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, or TACACS+), use SCP command line program instead of SFTP as SCP is still allowed.
      • If you use WinSCP, you can still use WinSCP GUI by following the steps below;
      1. In WinSCP, either hit New Site to create a new site, or click your existing site (to your BIG-IP) then hit Edit
      2. Under "File protocol" section, change it to "SCP"
      3. Click "Advanced" box
      4. In the Advanced Site Settings, and under "Environment" tree, click "SCP/Shell"
      5. For Shell, type in: bash
      6. Save this configuration or click Login to connect to the BIG-IP
Note: WinSCP provides Default, /bin/bash, /bin/ksh, sudo su - for Shell in the dropdown list but do NOT select /bin/bash from the dropdown list.  /bin/bash is different from bash, and you would need to type in "bash" at Step 5.

Once connected using your cli logins and password, you can navigate to the following folder

/shared/images and can delete the files of your choice like you delete in windows explorer.

      1) Save your session in WinSCP

      2) In Edit -> Advanced -> "Environment -> SCP/Shell" -> in shell field - manually put only "bash" command (do not select "/bin/bash")

      3) Save profile

Please rate or mark it as solution in case this address your queries regarding manual IP address checking to feature rich IP intelligence and geolocation-based ASM policy inclusiveness.

That will be helpful for others reading this blog.

  • I have the same problem and "clsh --slot=all rm -f /shared/images/..." does not work at all.

I want to keep the directory "/shared/images" on a 3-bladed chassis (viprion4800) nicely clean without the unnesseccary files like .md5 and .sig from pasttimes, but somehow the cluster keeps putting them all back ...
