About Virtual Server's IP

Is there any problem with Virtual Server's IP in the same segment as pool member?

ex.

VS:192.168.1.1/24

Pool member 1:192.168.1.2/24

Pool member 2:192.168.1.3/24

  • Yes that is fine, it's what we call a "one-arm" setup where the VIP and pool member IP is on the same network. Usually you would need SNAT (pool or automap) in this situation to ensure return traffic goes via the BIG-IP.

    Hope this helps,

Just a typical requirement, needed if the pool member's default gateway is a l3 device and not the bigip itself
